Today’s Real Party is modern, chic and absolutely “SEW” adorable. This sewing-themed baby shower was designed by Casey of Paper+Twine for her sister Morgan, who has a true passion for sewing. The inspiration began with the invitation, which read, “We are SEW excited to celebrate Morgan… we are on pins + needles!” — a clever and perfectly matched theme that carried throughout the event. With thoughtful, handmade details at every turn, this baby shower felt intimate, personal and lovingly crafted for the mom-to-be.

“I sewed some scalloped flag bunting, and we used a lovely fabric tablecloth. Among the food displays, we arranged an old sewing machine and vintage wooden spools as charming, thematic accents on the table. The cupcakes were topped with small fabric flags, and the floral bouquets included fabric ribbon streamers as a delicate touch. Balloons were finished with fabric streamers to tie everything together. The mom-to-be wore a fabric flower corsage with a stitched tag that read ‘mom to be.’ I also made little fabric birdies on a swing as hanging decorations for the shower; Morgan was able to take that piece home to hang in the nursery. For an activity, guests decorated onesies using fabric and ribbon, and we set up a sewing station for anyone who wanted to stitch a design directly onto a onesie. People got really creative with their embellishments! This shower was so perfect for my sister—she loved it. And, in true Morgan fashion, she sewed thank-you gifts for the hostesses.”
The overall effect is a warm, vintage-craft aesthetic that celebrates the mom-to-be’s hobby while offering guests a hands-on, memorable experience. The careful selection of details—from the invitation copy and fabric bunting to the sewing station and take-home decorations—made the event feel cohesive and intentional. Small, homemade accents like fabric cupcake flags and ribbon streamers made the decor feel tactile and inviting, and incorporating sentimental items such as an antique sewing machine added authenticity and charm.
This shower showcases how a personalized theme can turn a typical gathering into something heartfelt and memorable. The activity of decorating onesies encouraged creativity and produced meaningful keepsakes for the new baby, while the sewn decorations allowed the mom-to-be to bring a part of the celebration into the nursery. The combination of decorative elements, interactive projects and thoughtful presentation resulted in a shower that honored Morgan’s love of sewing and created lasting memories for friends and family.
Thank you to Casey for sharing these lovely photos and for crafting such a sweet, thoughtfully coordinated celebration. Congratulations to Morgan on her baby girl—this shower was clearly made with love and skill!
