Hey everyone — it’s Lindsay, back with the first of several Valentine’s craft posts. This one is adults-only and delightfully pretty. It makes a wonderful gift for girlfriends, a flirty present to share with your partner (find a private moment so no one feels shy about enjoying a “girly” cocktail), or a fun offering at an “I Hate Valentine’s Day” party. These DIY flavored vodka and pink vanilla sugar recipes are simple, customizable, and package beautifully as a martini gift set.
I used two easy recipes for this project: a quick strawberry-infused vodka and a pink vanilla sugar. Both are straightforward to prepare and come together with minimal equipment. Pair the finished bottles with a printed recipe card and a pretty martini glass to create a thoughtful, homemade gift.
Pink Vanilla Sugar
What You Will Need:
- White granulated sugar
- Whole vanilla beans
- Red or pink food coloring (use sparingly)
- Food processor or blender (optional)
- Sieve
- Clean glass bottles or jars for storing
How to Assemble:
- Measure 1 cup of sugar per vanilla bean pod.
- Slice each vanilla bean lengthwise and scrape out the seeds.
- Add the sugar, scraped seeds, and the empty pod to a food processor or blender. The pod left in the mixture boosts flavor as it rests.
- Pulse until the seeds are evenly distributed through the sugar.
- With the processor running or while stirring by hand, add a drop or two of food coloring at a time until you reach the desired pink shade. Be cautious — a little goes a long way.
- Sift the sugar through a fine mesh sieve to remove larger bits of pod and to create a finer texture.
- Transfer the pink vanilla sugar to clean glass bottles or jars, seal, and label.
If you don’t have a processor, add the sugar and vanilla seeds to an airtight container, shake or stir vigorously, and let the mixture sit for a few days; the vanilla will infuse the sugar naturally. Store sealed at room temperature. Use the sugar to rim cocktail glasses, sweeten drinks, or sprinkle on desserts.
Quick Strawberry Vodka

What You Will Need:
- 750 ml bottle of vodka (no need for top-shelf — mid-range is fine when infusing)
- About 3 cups fresh or frozen strawberries
- Food processor or blender
- Fine sieve or several layers of cheesecloth
- Clean glass bottles for storing
How to Assemble:
- Puree the strawberries in a blender or food processor. Adding a small splash of vodka can help the blending process.
- Combine the strawberry puree with the vodka in a glass container or bottle.
- Refrigerate and allow the mixture to infuse for at least overnight; a few days will deepen the flavor.
- Strain the infused vodka through a fine sieve or cheesecloth to remove seeds and pulp. Repeat if needed until clear enough for pouring.
- Bottle the strained vodka in clean glass bottles and keep refrigerated. Do not freeze — the water content from the berries can cause freezing and expansion.
Strawberry-infused vodka adds a fresh, natural fruit flavor that’s far superior to many store-bought flavored spirits. Try the same method with raspberries, peaches, or citrus for seasonal variations. Store the infused vodka refrigerated and use within a few weeks for best flavor.
Packaging and Gift Ideas

Assemble a charming martini gift set by pairing a bottle of strawberry vodka with a jar of pink vanilla sugar, a printed recipe card with cocktail suggestions, and a decorative martini glass. Wrap the bottles with ribbon or tissue and add a handwritten tag describing the contents and storage tips. A small funnel makes bottling neater, and a ribbon or twine around the neck of a bottle adds a polished touch.
Serving suggestions: rim a martini glass with the pink vanilla sugar before pouring a strawberry martini; garnish with a fresh strawberry or a thin vanilla bean strip. For a lighter cocktail, combine infused vodka with sparkling water and a squeeze of lime.
These DIY gifts are easy to customize and ideal for Valentine’s Day, Galentine’s, or any occasion when you want to give something homemade and memorable. If you make these projects, please share photos on our Facebook page — we love seeing your creations!
