THM Book Study: Transform Your Year with Trim Healthy Mama Plans

Are you wondering what a Trim Healthy Mama book study is? The authors of Trim Healthy Mama offer free study guides for church groups and moms around the world, and many of us run informal, supportive book studies to walk through the plan together.

For the past few years I’ve started each New Year by facilitating a Trim Healthy Mama book study that begins in January, both online and within our local group. Since I began my own THM journey in early 2013, I’ve grown to love this lifestyle and enjoy helping others discover practical ways to apply it to daily life.

This study is informal and not endorsed by Trim Healthy Mama LLC or Facebook in any way.

What is a THM Book Study?

A THM book study is a guided, chapter-by-chapter reading of the Trim Healthy Mama Plan (or the original Trim Healthy Mama book) designed to help readers understand and apply the principles one meal at a time. During the study we follow a six-week reading schedule, share thoughts and questions in group discussions, and try simple activities that reinforce the concepts. The group format—often an unofficial closed Facebook group—creates accountability and encouragement as readers refresh or build their knowledge.

What Am I Committing To?

  • Loving yourself enough to take time to read and reflect on the book.
  • Spending a few moments during the six-week study to join discussions, encourage others, and enjoy the process.
  • Learning from the reading and group conversation how to implement the plan—whether you’re new to THM or refreshing your knowledge.

How Does a Trim Healthy Mama Book Study Benefit Me?

Reading the Trim Healthy Mama Plan with intention gives you a deeper understanding of the practical details that make the lifestyle work. You’ll gain clarity on meal construction, ingredient pairing, troubleshooting, and long-term maintenance. A guided study helps uncover sections you may have missed and offers community support from others pursuing similar goals.

  • Clearer idea of what makes a healthy THM meal
  • How to pair ingredients wisely for best results
  • Troubleshooting tips if weight loss stalls
  • Strategies for maintaining results after reaching your goal
  • Exposure to useful parts of the book you may have overlooked
  • Interaction with other moms who share goals and experiences

This unofficial THM book study group focuses on reading the book, NOT teaching the plan.

What Do I Need To Participate?

  • A genuine desire to learn how to implement the plan successfully.
  • Either The Trim Healthy Mama Plan book or the original Trim Healthy Mama book for the reading assignments.
  • Note-taking supplies to capture insights and action steps.
  • A willingness to read actively and participate in discussions.

When Does This Trim Healthy Mama Book Study Begin?

There is usually a “Meet & Greet” thread in the group to introduce participants and set expectations. The first reading assignment for past studies has been posted at the end of December, with discussion prompts shared throughout the week to guide conversation about that week’s reading.

Resources I Find Useful

There are several posts and resources that can help you refresh basics, restart your journey, or find additional support. On the blog I share articles about returning to THM fundamentals, tips for restarting the plan, and personal experience with the membership site and recipes.
